Team Contender At The  Mid-Atlantic VA. Beach Rockfish Shootout. I headed down to Va. with the rest of the Contender Sport fishing Team to fish the prestigious Rockfish Shoot out.
Capt Max Forlenza, Capt Fred Gamboa, Scott McCall, Jerry Tomasselli, and Myself, all made the trip down. We met up with Chuck Arnold, Contender Boats, Rep. for the U.S. whos boat (Big Dog) we would be fishing on. We left from Rudee Inlet at 6:00 am aboard Contender's Flagship Boat their 39ST Open With Triple 350 Yamaha outboards. WE ran 75 miles south to the North Carlina's Oregon Inlet.
We found fish right-away, however they were on the small side. We fished a half hour and pulled our 14 rod trolling spread in and ran back north 20 miles. We stopped on good bait marks and put the lines in. It was Non-stop action for the next few hours. WE landed about 30 bass to 30 lbs. at 2:00 our last lines were brought in and we made our way home (at 65mph).... We were the fist team to weight in our fish. We had an AWESOME day and that boat was incredible. Thanks, Capt. Fred and thanks to Chuck Arnold at Contender Boats
